August 15, 2007 (Volume 13, no. 20) – From the Editor

The Hotline will begin a new feature section this edition called “Cool Ideas.” This section will feature new technologies, innovative ideas, or new tools Oregon librarians are trying out. Check out this new section and feel free to pass cool ideas of your own on to Hannah Gascho Rempel at hannah.rempel@oregonstate.edu.

One “cool idea” we are trying here at the Hotline is to post the Hotline News in another format. For those of you who prefer to read your news on a blog, receive news updates via RSS feed, and respond to news items in a comments section, please navigate on over to https://olahotline.wordpress.com/ and let us know what you think.

  1. This looks great. I would be interested in receiving this instead of the previous way. Good going Hannah! Andy

  2. Thanks Andy! If you have an RSS feedreader set up (like Bloglines, Google Reader, MyYahoo!, or Netvibes), you should just be able to click on the “Entries (RSS)” link underneath the Feeds header on the right side of the page and get a notice each time a new Hotline is posted.

I hope your garden is treating you well…

  3. As a former Hotline Editor who is gradually adopting 21st century technologies, this is a great way to get the Hotline! Thanks for setting it up! I’ve added it to my Bloglines Feeds. Will the blog version be updated more frequently than the Hotline’s “every two weeks” publishing schedule? —Diane

  4. Thanks Diane (for the idea:)!

We haven’t talked about updating the blog more frequently (other than making corrections), but if it seemed like there was both adequate news to share in between the twice a month publishing cycle, and enough of a reader base who checked out the news, I think it could certainly be considered!
