Fall CSD Workshop Recap
Despite being an absolutely miserable day outside, CSD had a fantastically pleasant day inside for the Fall Workshop on October 21 at Sherwood Public Library.
Movement instructor Iris Nason had participants singing, dancing and even rolling on the floor during her interactive workshop on incorporating movement, music, and play into library programs. The main takeaway: listen, encourage and suggest ways for your families to play with sound and movement. Hint: use puppets or stuffed animals as starting points for play (hop and hide like a bunny!).
And it might be fall, but we’re already thinking about summer! Attendees shared amazing ideas from circulating ukuleles (why not?!) to recruiting and keeping teen volunteers (choices of activities and shorter shifts good), and prizeless prize wheels (getting goofy in public can be fun) to one reading records for all (so simple!).
Get more great ideas when your summer reading manuals arrive. Yes, they are in the mail! Feel free to contact Anna Bruce (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions you might have.
And keep an eye out for more CSD-sponsored fun with the upcoming Mock Coretta Scott King Workshop – details coming soon!
