New Member Profile: Robin Jeffrey
Hi all! My name is Robin Jeffrey and I am the Learning Resource Center Director at Klamath Community College in Klamath Falls. I oversee the Library, Testing Center, and Tutoring Center here on campus and as one of only two librarians here at KCC, I do about half of all the information literacy instruction teaching as well!
I started at KCC in early 2015 as the LRC Assistant fresh out of my master’s program at the University of Kentucky. I immediately jumped into the newly developed library instruction program and began teaching one-shot information literacy classes and helped develop curriculum for a one-credit “Introduction to Research” course, which I now teach both online and face to face every term. I also serve on the Oregon Community College Library Association and on the Southern Oregon Library Federation and I’m a member of Valkyries’ Valhalla. The Valkyries are a community of women who support and work with graphic novels and comic books – Valhalla is open specifically to librarians.
I’ve lived all over the United States, from Wyoming to Maryland to Washington and have been excited to call Oregon my latest home. My husband and I enjoy the diverse culture of our state and our dog (a corgi/husky mix named Leo) enjoys the wide open spaces! In addition to being an avid comic book reader, I’m also pursuing a side career in creative writing! Several of my pieces have been featured in various college publications at the University of Washington and I won second place in The Molotov Cocktail’s Flash Phenom Contest for my flash fiction piece “Season of the Dead”. My non-fiction work has been recently featured on The Mary Sue.
I’m so very excited to be a part of OLA and thank you all for the very warm welcome!
