Oregon Librarians Honored by Library Journal
Every spring Library Journal recognizes a group of librarians and library workers, nominated by their peers, who are “doing extraordinary work to serve their users and to move libraries of all types and library services forward”. Oregon librarians Allie Flanary and Michele Burke were selected for this year’s group of LJ’s Movers & Shakers.
Allie Flanary, Faculty Librarian at Portland Community College, was honored for her commitment to UX (user experience). Flanary received kudos for her teaching ability, her creative approach to providing meaningful learning experiences for PCC’s students, and her tech expertise.
Michele Burke, Reference Librarian at Chemeketa Community college, was recognized for her efforts to establish information literacy standards. She received praise for her ability facilitate communication among a variety of professional groups in order to reach common goals.
