Jessie Gorton, OLA’s NW Central Liaison
Jessie Gorton of the OHSU library is OLA’s Liaison with Northwest Central, the online clearinghouse for library continuing education. She got involved with NW Central because she believes it is important for librarians to be able to communicate with one another and participate in the kind of information exchange necessary for their work to stay relevant and meaningful. NW Central creates a much needed forum for this kind of interaction to take place, and Jessie wanted to be a part of that in some capacity.
Jessie decided to become a librarian because she wanted to help people find the information they need to enhance their lives, and to help patrons in become critical consumers of information. She currently works in the Inter-library Loan Department at OHSU as a library assistant where she hunts for various resources requested by patrons. For more information on Northwest Central, visit their website at http://www.nwcentral.org.
