***New Director of the Scappoose Public Library
Dan White is the new Director of the Scappoose Public Library. He succeeds Jim Wilson who retired last November.
White brings a wide variety of library experience and a solid history of building positive relationships with community and staff.
Most recently he was the Teen Services Librarian for the Salem Public Library. Prior positions include 15 years as a children’s librarian and 5 years as an adult services librarian with the Douglas County Library System in Roseburg, Oregon. He began his career in libraries as a page with the Multnomah County Library.
White has extensive experience in programming, outreach, and building partnerships with community organizations. He has been active for a number of years in a variety of professional and community organizations, including the Oregon Library Association, where he was a past chair of the Children’s Services Division.
White holds a Master’s of Librarianship degree from the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in History from Reed College.
He is a native Oregonian – growing up in Portland – with family ties to in the Portland and Scappoose area. His first day in his new position was Monday, February 15.
